Rafael Nadal won a historic 14th Roland Garros and 22nd grand slam title after beating Casper Ruud in the final of the 2022 French Open a few days ago. He became the first man in tennis history to win 22 major titles and is now two titles ahead of Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic who are stuck at 20.

To add value to his French Open triumph, Nadal played the tournament, not at his 100%. He had foot issues days before the tournament and as quoted by him, wasn’t able to walk in the hotel after his second-round match. He somehow managed to play the tournament on injections and played the final with a numbed foot, which was a temporary solution.

He underwent a treatment on his foot which involved pulsed radiofrequency in the different nerves involved in the area of ​​the injury. He was even on crutches for a couple of days but as per reports, he is now feeling better and is fancying his chances to play Wimbledon. His uncle and former coach, Toni Nadal revealed that Rafa sounds positive and if he feels better in the coming days, he will definitely mark his presence at the All England Club.

As per reports, Nadal also practiced on the grass on Monday. He exercised and did a little routine on the grass courts of the Mallorca Country Club in Santa Ponca. This was the first time Nadal has practiced on the grass courts in almost 3 years. He didn’t step on the grass in 2020 due to the COVID scenario around the world and took a little break after the French Open last year.

Things are looking positive for Nadal so far and as per a statement, Nadal is advised to go through a basic routine for 3-4 days before increasing his load and taking a final call on his Wimbledon participation. The statement said: “Three or four days with normal maintenance physical activity” and that “depending on the evolution of the treatment and as long as it is positive, he would resume training on the track.”
