World No. 4 Rafael Nadal is not yet ready to give up his dream of winning the third Wimbledon title as the Spaniard is set to play in the semi-finals of the ongoing 2022 Wimbledon Championships despite having a tear of 7 millimetres in his abdomen. Rafa had trouble playing during his 5-set quarter-final win over Taylor Fritz taking a medical timeout right after the first set.

Despite the difficulty in movement, Nadal fought valiantly for 4 hours and 20 minutes to defeat Fritz and advance ahead into the tournament where he will be playing his 6th Wimbledon semi-final and 38th career Grand Slam semi-final in the hopes of his 3rd Wimbledon title and 23rd career Grand Slam title.

After his victory, Nadal had talked about having reservations in his mind about whether or not to play in the semi-finals where he will take on first-time Grand Slam semi-finalist Nick Kyrgios who defeated Cristian Garin in the quarter-finals. Nadal went in for tests on Thursday, 7th July and as per Marca, the reports have shown that the Spaniard has a 7-millimetre tear in one of his abdominal muscles.

Despite the medical ailment, Nadal is set to take on Kyrgios to keep his dream alive of winning a third major on the trot as he is now 19-0 for the season in Grand Slam events and is looking to stay on course for the Calendar Slam which will need him to win the title in Wimbledon and repeat it at the 2022 US Open to join Rod Laver as the only other man in the Open Era to achieve the feat.
