Rafael Nadal won the first round match against Jordon Thompson in straight sets 6-2,6-2, 6-2. The former world No.1 was in red hot form at the court today. He didn’t seem to be in any form of trouble throughout the match.

The King of Clay lived up to the title today and didn’t give his Australian opponent any chance to bounce back. The 21-time world champion was concentrated on winning the match and didn’t play and lose shots.

Nadal has been having problems with his foot for a long time now but the conditions got even worse a few months ago forcing him to take some time off before the all-important French Open.

The Spanish bull lived up to the title ‘King of Clay’ as he showed phenomenal performance in his first appearance at the Roland Garros. The Spaniard managed to win his match comfortably in straight sets against Jordon Thompson from Australia.

The former world No.1 came to the French Open after taking a break due to an issue with his left foot. However, during the match, the foot remained solid and the 21-time Grand Slam champion managed to breeze past his opponent.

With this win, Rafael Nadal surpassed Roger Federer’s record for most wins in a single grand slam. The Spaniard has now won 106 matches at the French Open to Federer’s 105 at Wimbledon.
