Carlos Alcaraz is the 5th seed and will be playing at Wimbledon 2022 after having a commendable run in the past 1 year. On 24th of May, 2021, the young Spaniard broke the top 100 and never looked back since then. Within a year, the 19 year old breached the top 10 rankings.

He became the first ever player to beat Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic back to back in a clay court. This happened in the Madrid masters where he had taken down the Olympic gold medalist, Alexander Zverev in the final to win the title with the score line of 6-3, 6-1.

Alcaraz had made his quarter finals debut in the French Open 2022 where he was beaten by current world number 2, Alexander Zverev in a thrilling 4 set encounter. The score line of the encounter was 6-4, 6-4, 4-6, 7-6. After facing a tight defeat in the Australian Open from the hands of Matteo Berrettini, the young gun went on to win 4 titles which included Barcelona Open, Rio Open, Miami Masters and Madrid Masters.

The Spaniard has two characteristics in his game which helped him reach at this level. First, he plays at a very high level without dropping his level throughout an encounter and secondly, he performs well in pressure situations. The 19 year old needs to improve his serves to be a force to reckon with in the Wimbledon 2022.

Tough Road Ahead For Alcaraz

Carlos Alcaraz is seeded 5th in the Wimbledon and has a tough road ahead of himself. He will play German, Jan-Lennard Struff in the first round. In the second round, the Spaniard is most likely to clash with the talented Italian, Fabio Fognini or world number 53, Tallon Griekspoor.

In the 3rd round, the young gun is most likely to set up a clash with the in form, Oscar Otte. The world number 7 is likely to clash with either Former Wimbledon Champion, Andy Murray or the 3 time grand slam champion, Stan Wawrinka or Italian young gun, Jannik Sinner in the fourth round of the Wimbledon 2022.

If Carlos manages to cross the hurdles, then he is most likely to play either against the 20 time grand slam champion, Novak Djokovic in the quarter finals. The potential semi final fixture for the youngster would be most likely against Wimbledon 2021 Semi Finalist, Hubert Hurkacz or French Open 2022 runner up, Casper Ruud. Alcaraz could meet either 2021 Wimbledon runner up, Matteo Berrettini or French Open 2021 finalist, Stefanos Tsitsipas in the finals of the Wimbledon 2022 or 22 time grand slam champion, Rafael Nadal.
