Former professional tennis player Serena Williams‘ coach Rick Macci revealed that Novak Djokovic is the GOAT in tennis. While the Big-3 have been defining the sport for nearly two decades, Djokovic is the best of them all, said Macci.

Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, and Rafael Nadal have been dictating the sport for nearly two decades. The competition was tough between the trio for quite a while. They have been on top of the records table, with them holding most of the records in tennis.

The three are arguably the best tennis players in history. They have been a dominant force in the sport with only each other to really compete against. They have been leading contenders for the ‘Greatest of All Time’ debate. However, according to Rick Macci, it is Djokovic who is the best player. He had taken to Twitter (now called X) to voice out his thoughts.

Of the Big-3, Roger Federer had the best serve. Rafael Nadal had the best top spin. Novak Djokovic had the best career.

However, his tweet has some truth to it. While all three players are the best in their own area of specialization, the numbers show that Djokovic is the one with the best career. With 24 Grand Slam titles, the Serb holds the record for the most number of Grand Slam titles in men’s tennis.

The Big-3 have been dominating the sport for nearly two decades

The Big-3 have been dictating the sport for nearly two decades now. Starting from 2005, the trio have won nearly all the Grand Slam titles, barring a few rare occasions where the likes of Stan Wawrinka and Andy Murray have been able to taste victory. It is evident that these three players are some of the best in tennis history.

While all three of them have been contemporaries, Federer is slightly older than the other two. He started dominating the field a couple of years before them, starting in 2003, when he won his first Grand Slam against Mark Philippoussis at Wimbledon. He would go on to win there for a record eight times.

In 2005, Rafael Nadal won his first Slam at the French Open. He has proven that he is indeed the King of Clay by winning 14 titles at the Roland Garros.

The Djokovic era came a little later in time. While he won his first Slam in 2008 at the Australian Open, he would go on for nearly three years without another Major. It was finally in 2011 when the Serb had found his footing and has been dominating ever since. However, with Federer retiring in 2022 and Nadal down from injury, it is only Djokovic who is carrying the weight of their legacy.
