23-time Grand Slam title winner Novak Djokovic has worked with many tennis greats over the course of his illustrious career and Marian Vajda was one of the. Author Simon Cambers has recently written a book along with Steffi Graff titled, “The Roger Federer effect” where he wrote about his interview with Vajda. Simon talked about Vajda’s impression of the rivalry between tennis legend Roger Federer and Novak and how their relationship on and off the court had helped the Serb transcend to the level he has today.

Simon Chambers noted, “Oh yes, Marian Vajda. He was great. He was another one who really loved Federer. And he told Simon that he liked the fact, too, that Roger married a Slovak. He talked about the fact that Novak and Roger weren’t as close as Roger and Rafa, and that this helped Novak because it gave him distance to fight and try to get over him.”

It is absolutely true that Novak was not at all in the grasp of Federer and Nadal in terms of success and fan favoritism. But as time progressed, Novak used this as a source of ignition to push himself further and to his absolute limits. During Vajda’s time with Novak, Djokovic was still a player trying to get himself a career in the sport, but by the end of their careers, Djokovic was the one still going strong.

Novak Djokovic is someone who never fails to surprise the fans and has been this way for far too long. He has always delivered when it was least expected from him, performed even when he was rated the second best, and responded back to the fans when he was booed. This is exactly what makes the Serbian the greatest ever to grace the men’s tennis segment.

Having been at the peak of the sport for about a decade now, many people expect the player to finally catch up with his age, but he has recently announced that the decision regarding his retirement is not what he is worrying about. He still feels that he can perform at the highest level and can extend his Grand Slam tally further as well. After his shocking Wimbledon loss against Carlos Alcaraz, he made his return at the Cincinnati Masters. With that being said, it seems like he is already in the finals, ready to take revenge.
