Andre Agassi and Sebastian Korda
Sebastian Korda revealed that he had received a message from former World No.1 Andre Agassi after his shock win over Daniil Medvedev. Korda also gave a glimpse of the relationship he shared with the eight-time Grand Slam champion.
Korda’s victory over 2022 Australian Open finalist Medvedev shocked the world. Agassi was at hand to praise the performance. “Yes, André Agassi sent me a message after the game. He was going to bed, it’s true. That’s what he told me. He is one of the most important people in my life,” Korda revealed.
He also said that the two had started talking during the lockdown period and have developed a relationship since then. “We started talking during the Covid period in 2020 and he was part of my rise as a player and as a person. We spend a lot of time together. He is very special.”
Korda caused a massive upset with his win over Medvedev. The Russian was one of the favorites to win the tournament but has now crashed out at the earliest stage since 2018. Korda has now advanced to the fourth round of the Australian Open and matched his best performance at a major. Medvedev was full of praise for his opponent after the game and compared his style to Novak Djokovic’s.
Sebastian Korda’s brilliant 2023 so far

Korda has been in sensational form in 2023. The 22-year-old American started his season at the Adelaide International 1. He beat the likes of Jannick Sinner and Andy Murray to reach the tournament finals.
In the finals, he almost got the better of Novak Djokovic. But the 21-time Grand Slam champion saved a championship point and then secured the title. He later lavished praise on Korda, calling his game “beautiful looking.” Korda continued his fine form into the Australian Open. The World No.31 has only dropped one set at the Slam.
He will fancy his chances against Hubert Hurkacz in the fourth round. The victory over Medvedev will only give him more confidence as he looks to go as far as possible in Melbourne.
