The American tennis legend, Serena Williams is all set to make her comeback in this year’s Wimbledon after a long one-year hiatus. She would first play doubles at Eastbourne with Ons Jabeur and afterwards will swing her racquet on the grass again where she emerged as the champion seven times. She has also received a wild card for the tournament, which begins on Monday, June.
The 40-year-old made a heartbreaking exit in the first round of Wimbledon a year ago after retiring during the first set due to a leg injury, and concerns over her return have grown. Williams, however, took it to Instagram to confirm her comeback to the tournament. She captioned her post with, “SW and SW19. It’s a date. 2022 See you there.”

The American legend will soon return to one of her most successful events, Wimbledon, on the grass courts. On the greens, she has won seven Grand Slam singles and six doubles titles. As a result, the excitement around her return is palpable. She’ll be chasing Margaret Court’s record of 24 Grand Slam titles, as well as just two match wins to join Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal in the record books.
Williams will join the slam-century club alongside the tennis superstars if she makes it to the third round of the 2022 Wimbledon Championships. She will also become the third woman in Grand Slam history to win a hundred matches, joining Martina Navratilova (120 at Wimbledon) and Chris Evert (102 at the US Open).
