Serena Williams the former world number 1 has made her return to the WTA tour after a year’s break from professional tennis. Williams will be back playing in the Wimbledon 2022 as a wildcard and even after being more than 40 years old, she has still decided to chase the all-time highest Grand Slam record of 24 in London. Serena had got agonizingly close to equalling the record, reaching the final in two of three previous Wimbledon and two of her last three US Open campaigns.

Serena still has the champion mindset and an iron will as she gets ready for probably her last comeback. She is playing a doubles tournament in Eastbourne with Ons Jabeur, the world number 4 who is in stellar form this season. As the two women get ready for team performance, it will also offer insight into Serena’s form for the Championships. For now, Serena has found some time to enjoy a delectable meal at an Eastbourne-based South Indian restaurant.

Serena visited Malayalam, a top-rated South Indian restaurant in Eastbourne to enjoy mouth-watering cuisines. She ordered fish in banana leaves, one of the most loved dishes of the restaurant. The restaurant representatives took to Facebook to express their delight on hosting the 23-time Grand Slam champion. They wrote:

Thanks a lot for taking your time off and visiting our little place. Glad that you enjoyed our Kerala cuisine, fully sustainable menu and hospitality.”

They added: “We all are here twirling with excitement. How many times we had seen and enjoyed your matches and today we saw you coming into our restaurant, having little conversations and on top of it we served you one of our most demanding seafood specialities, The Fish in Banana Leaves!!! Over the moon.”
