Tennis legend Serena Williams is religious and never wanted to make it a private thing. In fact, during the 2018 US Open press conference, the 23-time Grand Slam champion said that she and her husband Alexis Ohanian decided not to celebrate their daughter Olympia Ohanian’s first birthday due to these religious reasons. The most successful tennis player in the Open era’s (in terms of the Grandslam titles won)open admission about the religious customs was the talk of the time then.
As said by Serena in 2018 about not celebrating her child’s first birthday, “We’re Jehovah’s Witnesses, so we don’t do that,”. According to the official website of Jehovah’s witness, “because we believe that such celebrations displease God.”
