Former Women’s Tennis Association World No.1 Serena Williams’ husband Alexis Ohanian posted a picture with his two daughters as he enjoys his ‘paternity leave’. The father of two recently announced the birth of their second daughter Adira River Ohanian on 22 August 2023. Since then, it has been constant smiles in the Ohanian household.

Following silence on their second daughter since then, Ohanian has once again resorted to Twitter (now called X). He shared a picture of himself with his daughters seated comfortably in front of their television at home. Ohanian captioned this picture with a simple hashtag, ‘Paternity Leave’. Prior to the birth of their second daughter, the couple have frequently said that it was their first child, Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr., who was the most excited at the prospect of a baby sister. “She whispers into the phone, ‘I want to be a big sister’,” said the American in her retirement announcement at Vogue.

The American former tennis player announced her retirement from professional tennis in August 2022, through the Vogue magazine. In the heartfelt retirement message she wrote, she mentioned that one of the reasons for her decision to step away from tennis was so that she could expand her family with her husband, Alexis Ohanian. The family realized this in 2023, as the 23-time Grand Slam champion revealed that she was pregnant at the Met Gala. “I’m grateful to report our house is teaming with love. A happy and healthy newborn girl and happy and healthy mama, “ Ohanian said on Instagram, as they announced the birth of their daughter in August 2023.

Alexis Ohanian is known to share the news regarding his family on social media. This time, the American posted a photo of himself with his daughters as they sat on front of the television, watching cartoons.

Alexis Ohanian pushes for more investment in women’s sports

Following the final of the 2023 edition of the US Open, Serena Williams’ husband, Alexis Ohanian has urged his followers to invest more in women’s sports. This followed after statistics revealed that the clash between Novak Djokovic and Daniil Medvedev had more viewership than the Coco Gauff-Aryna Sabalenka face-off.

Ohanian, is an investor in the Angel City FC, a National Women’s Soccer League. He has justified his point by making sure that he practices what he preaches. Just like his involvement in women’s sports, he asks for other investors to do the same.

He also compared data from the Wimbledon finals as well, with the men averaging a higher viewership than the women. This statement by the American has come in time, with equal pay for women being discussed in all aspects of the economy, including sports.
