Former World No. 1 Serena Williams is one of the biggest examples of how rewarding hard work can be. Growing up in Compton in a rowdy neighbourhood, Serena turned out to become one of the richest athletes ever because of the fame and money her success on the tennis court brought along.

While Serena and her elder sister Venus Williams had the love and attention of both their parents Richard Williams and Oracene Price, the subsequent divorce of the couple followed by Richard’s third marriage to Lakeisha Juanita Graham could now result in the two tennis stars losing their childhood home.

Lakeisha, who is 43 years younger than Richard, married the tennis coach in 2010 but the marriage was short-lived as they divorced in 2017 shortly after the birth of their son. The property in discussion is Richard’s 4-bedroom house in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

As per court reports, Lakeisha forged Richard’s signature in getting a loan of $255,000 for a truck firm from hard-lender David Simon but has failed to repay it with the amount rising to $584,109 with the interest, an amount that is the responsibility of both Richard and Lakeisha.

With the truck business failing miserably, as per Simon’s statements in court, Lakeisha is believed to have spent all the money on fast-food. With no repayment of value till now, the court has ordered an auction of the property wit the majority of it going to Simon for his repayment.

While Richard has raised no objection to the auction, Lakeisha is believed to have raised another proposal to keep the property as per the Sun. Lakeisha has proposed a payment of $8,277 for the first three months, followed by a small increase to $11,092 for the next 13 months and £10,978 for the final 44 months, reports The Sun.

“No matter how much money her trucking business generates every month, she spends all of her income every month without paying a dollar to the secured creditor [i.e Simon]. The truck was located in New York, Long Island City, having been in an accident and causing $30,000 worth of damage to property.

“The trailer split in half, spilled its cargo all over the street, the cleanup and the storage of all of that, cost $30,000. Josh [Simon’s brother] flew to Long Island City to get the truck and drive back here to Florida,” read a court statement detailing on the failed business.

Serena or Venus have reserved their comments on the case and Richard has not made any effort to hold on to the property. While the verdict on the case is yet to be announced, there’s a good chance that Lakeisha’s one last attempt won’t be enough to save the Williams house.
