Sunday morning saw a comeback by Alycia Parks over her first-round victory over Daria Snigur at the Australian Open.
The American eventually won the match after being down a set to take the victory, winning 2-6, 6-2, 6-4. However, she had to endure a rough game as she finished with a whopping 66 unforced errors, which very well may have sent her home any other day.

The 23-year-old also had an inconsistent service game; while she served up 10 aces to Snigur’s none, she had 7 double faults. The deciding factor was when the American took home 4 games in a row after being 2 all in the second set, going on to convert 50% of the break points she faced on her way to the second round.
However, that was not all; the American’s post-match celebration reminded fans of the iconic Serena Williams celebration with the signature twirl and wave to the fans.
Of course, even though the recreation was not as perfect as the tennis icon, the crowd definitely acknowledged Parks.
The comeback of Serena Williams’ signature twirl and wave was appreciated on social media as well, with fans going gaga over the “Serena style wave.”
Nonetheless, the American playing her first Australian Open seemed to soak up the moment and fully enjoyed her maiden Australian Open win.
Alycia Parks: The up-and-rising tennis star in the US women’s circuit
Alycia Parks is one of the most promising new talents in the US women’s circuit. Just like her icon, Serena Williams herself, she takes pride in her big serve and attacking style of tennis.

More interestingly, the young talent also received a hearty compliment from 2023 US Open winner Coco Gauff, who lauded Parks for being one of the fastest players on the court, with her big stride helping her out.
Inconsistency, however, has not come well, as the current World No. 31 has some issues with a complete game, as was evident by her first-round matchup. As a result, Parks intends to focus only on herself during matches and be mentally and physically sharp.
With that being said, how the American moves forward remains to be seen. Parks will be seen further in action at Round 2 of the Australian Open.
