Serena Williams talks about her upcoming cameo in a Janelle Monáe movie and says her NDA made her almost forget she did a movie

Serena Williams - FirstSportz
23-time Grand Slam Champion Serena Williams is enjoying her post-retirement life in all significant ways. Living with her husband Alexis Ohanian and their daughter, Olympia. Williams is getting enough time to do things she loves apart from tennis. She has a venture capital firm named Serena Ventures. Along with this, her clothing and jewelry line has kept her busy.
Adding to this was her cameo in a Janelle Monae movie named “Glass Onion“, released a month after her retirement. There was an NDA (Non-disclosure agreement) that didn’t allow her to speak about it before. Now, as time passed by, she spoke about how this opportunity came to her and how excited she was.
In her words, “They had written me into the script originally. They were thinking of me. And I was like, ‘No way, cool.’ And they were like, ‘Well, would you want to do this? And I was like, ‘Why not? Sure. It’ll be fun. So I was really excited to shoot it”
She continued on how fun this was despite not having much preparation in the movie field and how good the director is. As quoted by her, “I couldn’t say anything about it for so long that I think I actually forgot about it, but it was really fun. I’m glad it worked out. It’s obviously a great movie. Janelle Monáe does an incredible job. It’s a great cast as well.” (Source: Cosmopolitan )

Serena Williams – Icon on and off the court

Serena Williams is arguably the best female tennis player ever. The 23 Grand Slams she won in singles is underlining that. She has embraced the courts from 1994 to 2022. She has won each Grand Slam at least twice in both singles and doubles. In the early 2000s, there was a time when she and her sister Venus Williams used to be in the finals against each other in almost all the slams.
The duo has played 4 major finals consecutively from the 2002 French Open to 2003 Australian Open and Serena won all 4. The sisters turned back the clock in the 2017 Australian Open final when they both faced off in a Grand Slam final for the first time after Venus‘ triumph in Wimbledon in 2008. They both have played against each other 31 times and Serena leads the head 2 head 19-12.
The Williams sisters and Serena Williams in particular gave great motivation for black athletes in the USA. Serena Williams almost single-handedly took Women’s tennis to new dimensions with her sheer power and aggressive game style. Her off-the-court image was also held high throughout her career due to her public outlook and standing up for the oppressive people.
