“Shame on us” Australia reacts to Wimbledon allowing Novak Djokovic

Novak Djokovic is all set to feature at this year’s Wimbledon after the All England Club declared that Djokovic’s vaccination status will not be a criterion for participation at this year’s Championship. Hence the Serb will be allowed to defend his title which he won last year by defeating Matteo Berrettini in the finals.

There is a lot of noise in and around the Wimbledon with the authorities banning the Russian and Belarusian players due to the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine. The All England Club recently came out with some statement suggesting that they had no other alternative and thought about the safety of the players and also had to remain rigid on their stance against war and the Russian regime.

All of this raised questions about Djokovic‘s participation who was deported from Australia and was not allowed to participate at the Australia Open as he was unvaccinated. He then missed out on a lot of events and only played three matches in Dubai. He also missed the Indian Wells and Miami Open due to United States laws that require vaccination. So when fans got to know that he will be allowed to participate in Wimbledon they gave it back to the Australian government.

Djokovic on the other hand got a lot of match practice and gradually got back in shape. He still needs to keep up the momentum and will be seen in action at the Madrid Masters.

Djokovic’s main aim for now is to defend his title at the Roland Garros.
