Wimbledon champion, Carlos Alcaraz went up against French tennis player, Gregoire Barrere in his latest round. The 20-year-old beat his opponent with ease as he stuck to his game plan and ousted his opponent out in straight sets. He scored 6-2, 7-5 over two sets to get enter the third-round of the tournament. Alcaraz, who faced a semi-final round defeat in Beijing at the hands of Italian No.1, Jannik Sinner, entered straight into the Round of 64 following a 6-7, 1-6 defeat.

Seeded at No.30, Dan Evans, on the other hand, defeated Mikhail Kukushkin in his previous clash. The British No.2, went on to demolish his Kazakh opponent, emerging victorious with a score of 6-2, 3-0 over two sets. Just like Alcaraz, Evans lost his match against China Open winner, Jannik Sinner in his Round of 32 match at the event. Though Evans claimed the second set in their clash over three sets, he had to bow down to the Italian who emerged victorious with a 6-4, 6-7, 6-3 win.

Former World No.1, Carlos Alcaraz has clashed with Dan Evans on three prior occasions. Their head-to-head score stands at 3-0 with Alcaraz in the lead. The duo’s latest encounter was at the third-round of the US Open last month.
