His second season playing on the tour, the American reached the quarter-final of the Australian Open, only the second Grand Slam where he qualified to the main draw. However, his best performance came at the US Open 2023, where he reached the semi-final. However, he was defeated by Novak Djokovic, who would go on to win the tournament.
