“She’s had around 700 drinks bro” Nick Kyrgios demands the umpire to remove an unruly spectator from Wimbledon final
Nick Kyrgios
Nick Kyrgios made his first grand slam final appearance at Wimbledon 2022, a result many people would have expected a lot earlier from the amount of talent the Aussie possesses. Nevertheless, with a bit of luck and an amazing performance throughout the tournament, he came face to face with Novak Djokovic who was trying to defend his title at SW19 for a third consecutive time. Kyrgios had a 2-0 score against Djokovic, having beaten Djokovic two times in 2017 and didn’t lose a set in the process.
Kyrgios came firing on all cylinders and his serves were also impeccable, putting Djokovic under a lot of pressure. He broke Djokovic to take the first set 6-4 and things looked ominous for a while, but Djokovic geared up and did what he does best. He started returning Kyrgios’s serve more and more effectively and finally when Kyrgios slipped in the second set, Djokovic was there. He grabbed the second set 6-4 and in the third set Kyrgios started getting more and more irritated and it was clear that the match had gone to Djokovic. Kyrgios was also distracted by some disturbing elements between serves. There was an incident where a woman was shouting between Kyrgios’s serve.

Nick Kyrgios gives a funny description of the disruptor at the final of Wimbledon 2022.
Kyrgios was almost on the verge of getting broken again in the second set, being disturbed by some rowdy spectators. Kyrgios went to the umpire fuming about the incident and asking him to do something about the situation. He urged the umpire to pay closer attention to such hecklers in the crowd so that they won’t disturb the players during the Wimbledon final. Umpire not being able to recognize the troubling person, asked Kyrgios who gave an extremely hilarious description. He said: “It’s the one in the dress…the one who looks like she’s had around 700 drinks bro!”
Though Kyrgios went on to lose the match in four sets, he played an amazing match for his first Grand Slam final. But it should also give him some lessons regarding the fact if he is able to control his emotions more often, he would be making a lot more appearances on the big stages at Grand Slams. Djokovic on the other hand earned his seventh Wimbledon title and is only one title behind Roger Federer‘s record of highest number of Wimbledon title in men’s.
