Eurosport took to their Twitter handle (now called X) to point out a stark similarity in the career trajectories of Novak Djokovic and Taylor Swift. It was pointed out that both, stars in their own right, have remained on top of their fields over the last ten years.

American pop star Taylor Swift had re-released her album 1989 with re-recorded versions of the old songs. While she has remained a constant in the field, Novak Djokovic has been an unshakable pillar in tennis.

Nearly ten years ago, when Swift released her album for the first time, it was Djokovic who was the No. 1 player. This is a statistic that has not changed over the course of a decade.

The intersection between the tennis world and the pop world online was very pleased with this statistic.

This pleases me greatly as both a Nole fans and as a Swifty.
said a fan on X

As expected, fans were stunned by this coincidence, as they were both shocked and pleased by this fact. There were so many X users who came on to the platform to express their happiness.

Sharing a wide spectrum of reactions online, here’s what fans have to say:

However, interestingly, this was not the only fact that was pointed out. Another similarity in both years was that it was a Czech who had won the Wimbledon title both years. While it was Petra Kvitova who won the title in 2014, it was Marketa Vondrousova who achieved the task this year. Also, with Serena Williams in 2014 and Coco Gauff in 2023, it has been an American who won the US Open title both years.

Novak Djokovic has been a constant in the tennis world for nearly two decades

Ever since his first Grand Slam title in 2008, the 24-time Grand Slam title champion has been on a 20-year-long winning streak. The number of Grand Slam appearances where he did not make at least a quarter-final appearance is very few.

Even nearly 20 years after turning pro, the Serb won another title at the US Open, making his 24th title-winning campaign.

The World No. 1 has a staggering 96 ATP singles titles to his name. Named a third of the Big 3, along with contemporaries Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, his contribution to the sport is irrefutable.

He is still playing at the highest level, challenging the next generation of players, and winning. He is currently the only player in the Open Era to win 24 Grand Slam titles.
