Sloane Stephens cruised through her first-round match against Karolína Plíšková in the first round of the 2023 French Open. Stephens won in straight sets but the world No.30 did not seem too happy even after her victory.
Sloane Stephens has been quite unhappy with the amount of racism she has to face from the online tennis community. Sloane Stephens is from America and represents the black community. “Yes, it’s obviously been a problem my entire career,” she said.”It has never stopped. If anything, it’s only gotten worse.“
The Bodyguard AI technology incorporated by the French Open organizers did not seem to work too well as the amount of online hate has not gone down too much. Sloane Stephens talked about knowing about AI and also trying to use it for the best result.”I have a lot of obvious keywords banned on Instagram and all of these things, but that doesn’t stop someone from just typing in an asterisk or typing it in a different way, which obviously software most of the time doesn’t catch.”, said Stephens.
“When there are FBI investigations going on with what people are saying to you online, it’s very serious. I’ve dealt with it my whole career.“, said Stephens. The amount of hate that Stephens has been facing is off the charts and it is for sure that a case of racism is serious when the FBI gets involved. Online hate, cyberbullying, racism, and anything related to derogating a person is not healthy for any sport.
Sloane Stephens says that she is satisfied with her tennis career

Sloane Stephens recently talked about gaining everything she ever wanted from tennis. She claimed that she was totally satisfied with her career. “Some people may say I didn’t do everything I should have done in tennis but I’ve been able to do all the things I wanted“, said Stephens.
Sloane Stephens won the 2017 US Open after beating both Venus Williams and Serena Williams, who are legends of the game in their own rights. Stephens’ career slowed down a bit after that and she has not been able to recreate that amount of success.
However, Stephens is totally at peace with her career despite what others claim. She is proud of her tennis career and her career outside tennis. Stephens claimed that she has been able to do incredible things behind the scenes which she is very proud of.
