Switzerland’s Stan Wawrinka becomes the next player to voice his opinion regarding the constant ball-changing controversy. With a huge chunk of the tennis players disappointed with the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) actions to keep changing the balls being used, Wawrinka has jumped in as well.

According to a large number of prominent tennis players, every court, despite having the same surface, reflects the balls at different speeds. This speed is largely affected by the brand of the ball being used

For context, the material and the way it bounces are just a few parameters that decide how the ball reacts to every shot. These changing speeds determine how the player reacts to them.

Now, when the brand of the ball keeps changing mid-game, the players are also forced to change the way they react to the ball. Sometimes, this variable aspect of the game makes the players more susceptible to injury. With that being said, both ATP and WTA players have complained that these balls coming at high speeds tend to cause wrist and elbow injuries.

While Stan Wawrinka is not the first player to complain about these balls, he is the latest. He had taken to Twitter (now called X) to express his concerns.

However, many other tennis players like Marketa Vondrousova, Carlos Alcaraz, and Daniil Medvedev have complained about the issues caused.

Stan Wawrinka faces heartbreaking defeat on home soil

The three-time Grand Slam champion faces a heartbreaking loss as he gets knocked out of the Swiss Indoors championship by Alexander Shevchenko. Rubbing salt to the wound is the fact that this was a tournament on home soil for the Swiss veteran.

Wawrinka lost to the Russian youngster in straight sets. While he lost the first set 3-6, the second set was quite the page-turner. The set ran to a tiebreak, where Wawrinka lost in a very close battle.

The 38-year-old is in the final leg of his career. While he saw a tremendous amount of success during the duration of his career, he has had a dry spell over the last few years. However, with three Grand Slam titles, an Olympic gold, and a career-high ranking of World No. 3, he has had one of the more impactful careers.
