Paula Badosa’s comeback almost spoiled by rain

Speaking of the match played between Paula Badosa and Ashlyn Krueger, the Spaniard seemed to have the upper hand before rain spoiled it all and the match was suspended. Coming back from an injury, Badosa started strong in the first set as she clinched it 6-3.

However, the Spanish ace lost control in the second set. This meant that Krueger took advantage and eventually won the set 6-4 to force the match into a decider. In the third set, Badosa got her act together to race to a 4-2 lead but rain spoiled her plans as the match was suspended.

However, the rescheduled match took place on Monday and Badosa ensured it did not slip out of her hand. Although Krueger staged a brief comeback as the American won two games on the trot in the deciding set to level scores.

But Paula Badosa was alert enough to not let her guard down. The Spanish ace bounced back by winning two games which also helped her close the match in her favor. Now, she would look to make the most of this start and go as deep as possible in the WTA 1000 event.
