World No.4 Stefanos Tsitsipas is all set to kick off his Paris Masters Campaign against British World No.27 Daniel Evans on Wednesday. However, the Greek’s father and coach – Apostolos Tsitsipas, isn’t too happy about the speculations and “unprecedented lies” that have been making rounds in the tennis community, as quoted by himself on a Facebook post which is developed to tarnish the image of his family and team.

The Facebook post doesn’t mention any particular events, but this might be about a person in Vienna who came up recently with an argument that Tsitsipas tried to insult him. The Facebook post (translated via Google) starts like this, “My dear friends and companions since in the last few days unprecedented lies have been said and written to hurt our image“.

Next up in the post, Apostolos pointed out the fake profiles and arguments that popped up mostly in recent days. Pointing out the ugly and dark side of the internet, he noted, “I would like to ask you to be especially careful as there are fake posts from unknown profiles. Some seek to escape the darkness of their hatred by spreading the truth at the expense of others with malice and fake profiles that simply declare envy, envy, and malice.

But knowing they won’t make it, we continue strong and united because we know difficulties and obstacles and we have learned to overcome them and turn them into victories!!! Thank you.” He concluded.

Tsitsipas is one of the few flag bearers of single-handed backhands which was one of the most artistic aspects of the Swiss legend Roger Federer‘s game. Though tennis experts are pointing out the vulnerable aspects of playing with a single-handed backhand, many still admire it for its raw beauty.

Current World No.5 Tsitsipas has had a disappointing season so far. His win-loss ratio is 57-21 and won 2 titles (ATP-1000 Monte Carlo ATP 1000, ATP-250 Mallorca) in 2022 but failed to perform his best in the Grand Slam tournaments. His best run was at the semi-final at the Australian Open, where he lost to Daniil Medvedev in 4 sets. He was looking better during the past month until World No.7 Novak Djokovic thrashed him in the ATP-500 Astana Open final in straight sets.

Then he played the Stockholm Open but lost again in the final in straights, this time to Danish World No.18 Holger Rune. The loss has further declined his confidence as he lost the next tournament in the pre-quarterfinals itself to Croatian World No.26 Borna Coric in 3 tight sets.

The fans are already frustrated by the recent performances of the Greek as he has continuously been seen mentally blocked whenever he plays in the finals. The drama and controversies off the court might affect him, as we could see from the frustration in his father’s Facebook post as well.
