Greek tennis ace and World No. 7 Stefanos Tsitsipas has talked about the constant criticism he receives for prioritizing tennis over family. The 2023 Australian Open finalist then said that he does not mind it as long as the people who are important to him are by his side. Tsitsipas said that in the early phase of his career, tennis was his priority. However, it has changed in the recent past. 

It is worth mentioning that Stefanos Tsitsipas is in Antwerp for the ATP 250 tournament. This will be the Greek’s second participation in the tournament. Tsitsipas has also taken his family and his girlfriend, Paula Badosa, with him to Belgium. The Greek was also seen trying his hand at cooking fries, which was approved by Badosa.

After enjoying his time being a chef, Tsitsipas talked about what he hopes for himself from this tournament. It was then the Greek took a jibe at his critics. “Before I only thought about tennis, now my family is crucial to me. Tsitsipas further said that he was a boy six years back, but now he is a mature man. “Six years ago I was a boy who knew nothing about life. Now I am a man and much more mature. I have grown and am grateful for everything that has come my way since then.”

Stefanos Tsitsipas hopes for another career boost in Antwerp

Stefanos Tsitsipas, while talking about his expectations from this ATP 250 tournament where he is the top seed, said that he expects another career boost. Admitting that the past few months have not gone that well for him, Tsitsipas said that he hopes for a repeat of 2017.

“I started my career here in 2017, it brings back many good memories, it was the start of a good cycle. The past few months have been a bit more difficult, so I hope the tournament can give me another boost here,” said the Greek. 

Notably, Tsitsipas had reached the semifinals of the ATP 250 tournament on his debut. Now, six years later, as the Greek returns as one of the top players in the world, the expectations will be high. Tsitsipas will hope to put the failures of the past few tournaments behind and start afresh from here.
