Greek tennis sensation Stefanos Tsitsipas finds himself at a crucial point in his career where he has to perform his best in coming tournaments to qualify for the 2023 ATP finals. Despite a huge dip in form, the Greek finds himself with the hope of qualifying for the finals and is more determined than ever to prove himself to the whole tennis world.
In a recent press interview, Stefanos Tsitsipas revealed his desire to qualify for the upcoming Nitto ATP finals, which is all set to take place in Turin.
My eyes are set on the Nitto ATP Finals. I have played there several times, it is a great tournament and I will leave all my breath on the court to earn my place in Turin. With the level of intensity and commitment I put into my tennis, there is no reason to think that I cannot qualify.Stefanos said in the Vienna press.
With many prominent players eyeing to qualify for the ATP finals, Stefanos finds himself on the lookout despite having a terrible mid-season full of early losses. With his eyes set on the grand prize, the tennis professional is using this motivation to play well in the ongoing Vienna Open.
Stefanos Tsitsipas’ dominant run at the ongoing 2023 Vienna Open
World No. 7 Stefanos Tsitsipas has been having a good run at the ongoing Vienna Open, where he is seeded No. 4. He faced a huge first-round scare in the form of Dominic Thiem, where the Greek had pulled off a close 2-set victory. After a first-set close call, Stefanos managed to pull a 7 game set win and then carried the momentum to win the second set as well.
He also played against the Czech’s Tomas Machac in a 3-set encounter where Tomas was making a good comeback, but Tsitsipas managed to pull it together and book a date in the quarterfinals against Borna Gojo. These two are set to face each other for the first time in their careers.
With that being said, it seems like even after a few early exits, Stefanos is aiming for a comeback season in Vienna. Tennis fans are eagerly watching as the Greek tries to secure his spot in the all-prestigious Nitto ATP finals, which is set to take place on November 12, 2023.
