Venus Williams to return to action at Indian Wells

Venus Williams, who has been out of tennis action for almost six months now will be making a comeback at Indian Wells. The seven-time singles Grand Slam champion had said that playing at the Indian Wells and the Miami Open is her big goal at the moment.

One of my big goals is to play United States, to play in the Miami Open and at Indian Wells. I have not played there since 2019 due to injuries. It's a long time. … It's a lot of years not to play at home. So that's of course one of my big goals on the horizon, is to be there, prepare to do that. Amongst many goals on the court, too.
Venus Williams said in a video posted on Youtube a few weeks back. (H/T: WTA)

Notably, Williams suffered a knee injury that left her hobbling off Centre Court at Wimbledon last summer. The 43-year-old then tried to stage a comeback but failed miserably. Williams then decided to take a rest and give herself time before she made a comeback. And now, as she has said, the 43-year-old is ready.
