Taylor Fritz puts out a disappointed message following his double choke on match points at the Swiss Indoors against Alexander Shevchenko
In a major upset, Taylor Fritz lost to unseeded Alexander Shevchenko in the second round of the Swiss Indoors.

American Taylor Fritz has had a series of unsuccessful matches. Recently, the third-seeded player at the Swiss Indoors tournament got ousted by unseeded Alexander Shevchenko in a 3-set thriller.
After playing an extremely challenging and tiring match against the Russian, Taylor Fritz took to his social media handle to express his dejected and fatigued feeling that he must have felt after the match. Tennis does get a bit tiresome and takes a physical toll on the player’s mind and body. He posted saying:

In an intense battle between the Russian and the American, all the 3 sets went into a tiebreak. Fritz won the first tiebreak, 7(9)-6(7). However, in the next 2 tiebreaks, Alexander Shevchenko emerged victorious in 7(8)-6(6), 7(7)-6(5) to seal the deal and proceed to the next round of the Swiss Indoors.
Fritz looked extremely disappointed with himself because of losing the match although he had the upper hand by winning the opening set of the match. He looked dejected as the American missed almost 15 break points and failed to convert even one of them.
Looking sad and fatigued on losing multiple chances to win the game, Fritz put out an emotional message expressing his tiredness. It indeed gets challenging for players to play hardcore competitive tennis day in and day out almost every day of the year and players tend to feel fatigued at the moment.
Taylor Fritz’s chances at ATP Finals in danger
World No.9 Taylor Fritz recently put his hopes of featuring in the ATP Finals in danger after his shocking defeat to Alexander Shevchenko in the second round of the Swiss Indoors. Fritz will now remain behind Holger Rune at the 9th position in the race to the ATP Finals in Turin, sitting just outside the top 8 positions.
The ATP Finals in Turin is scheduled to take place from 12th to 19th November. With the qualification criteria in place, it will indeed be difficult for Taylor Fritz to recover and get back in the race for the Turin finals.
This major upset at the Swiss Indoors has left the American in a tight position. It will be interesting to see how Fritz manages to make a comeback and compete at the ATP Finals later this year.
