Taylor Fritz on Netflix's Break Point series
The much anticipated Netflix series ‘Break Point’ that documents private lives of tennis players failed to get as much appreciation and widespread fan following on the tennis circuit as Netflix’s documentary series based on F1, ‘Formula 1: Drive to Survive‘ did. There could be many reasons for this series to not able to create as much excitement.
Taylor Fritz is also a part of this series. He features in one of the episodes. However, he also admits that he did not enjoy watching it. Many tennis players have their opinions about this series. While Bianca Andreescu loved it, many others did not.
“I’d say, inside the tennis world, it’s… everyone understand that it’s not catered to tennis players and to us, it’s gonna be just not as exciting. You know, that’s how it is, that’s how they intend it to be. That’s how I prefer it to be that, it’s catering to attracting new fans and not pleasing us,” he said in a recent interview.
He points out that the target audience was the fans who got real insights on the lives of tennis players and their struggles through this series.
“The show is catered towards people that they don’t know the stories, they don’t know who wins what. They don’t know these people and that’s what makes it entertaining and I think the reception has been great from people that aren’t so much into tennis world, like I feel, from what I’ve heard about reviews from viewers telling me they are good. People seem to enjoy the show,” he continued.
