Taylor Fritz opens up about his dream milestone of making it into the Top 10

Taylor Fritz advanced into the finals of the 2022 Japan Open after defeating Denis Shapovalov in 3-sets 6-3, 6-7(5),6-3. This will be his third appearance in the finals of the tournaments on the ATP Tour. He remains undefeated in the finals as he has already won two ATP titles in the year. He had withdrawn from the Korea Open citing an injury but got off to a great start at the Japan Open.
Fritz will likely move up places in the rankings and make his way to the Top 10 of the rankings which will be his career-best rankings. Upon being asked about his feelings about achieving this new milestone in his career, he seemed quite thrilled and excited about the new milestone being unlocked.
He said “It means so much. Top 10 is always one of those goals you have as a kid. Growing up, it’s a massive milestone. Obviously, I want more, I want to go even higher, but, I mean, Top 10 is just a huge achievement that you always dream of. And no one can ever take it away from me, I was a Top 10 player.”
Taylor Fritz could go up to being ranked as best as number 8th in the number but his final year-end ranking will depend on his performance at the finals and will also depend on how the results of the other ATP events that are happening in Astana and Kazakhstan simultaneously.

Fritz has had a great year with his consistent performances of the year and one of his remarkable performances came when he defeated the 22-time Grand Slam champion, Rafael Nadal, in the finals of the Indian Wells Masters in straight sets. He even won the singles title at Eastbourne International and had consistent performances in the grass court season as he made his way into the quarter-finals of Wimbledon but lost to Rafael Nadal despite putting up a tough fight against the Spaniard.
Taylor Fritz will play against his compatriot Frances Tiafoe in the finals of the Japan Open looking to once again defeat Tiafoe to clinch his 4th ATP title since Fritz had defeated Tiafoe in the Round of 32 at the Canadian Open.
