Taylor Fritz voices concern for the lack of openly homosexual players in Top 100 of the Tour, believes his colleagues will be welcoming if anyone comes out

World No. 9 American Taylor Fritz has come out in support of homosexual players in the sport. Sharing his views on the issue, Fritz showed his amusement at why no one has come out openly. The 25-year-old also believes that it would be totally normal and people will be accepting.
The American star was talking to Clay Tenis where he shared his views about gay players on the Tour among other things. He acknowledged that there should be players ranked inside the top 100 on the men’s tour that are gay. Fritz also thinks that it would be big news if someone comes out openly.
“I’m not sure if there are homosexual tennis players in the top 100. I don’t know. Maybe people think behind closed doors we know or something,” Fritz told Clay Tenis. Fritz admitted that it was odd that no one has come out openly. “Statistically speaking, they should be. Statistically. But not that I know. I think is odd, because I feel like a player would be accepted,” Fritz elaborated.

Fritz suggested that one of the reasons for players not coming out could be the spotlight and media attention towards these players. This could be distracting for gay players. “Obviously anytime that would be a lot of big news and maybe people just don’t want to be in the spotlight, maybe they don’t want the distraction of getting all the attention and stuff like that,” Fritz said.
Though Fritz has voiced his concerns, publically homosexual players in the sport are not uncommon. Earlier some players have come out openly about their orientation. Lisa Raymond, Billie Jean King, and Martina Navratilova are some of the incredibly successful tennis players who happen to be homosexual.

American tennis star Taylor Fritz turned pro in 2015. His first Grand Slam appearance came at the Australian Open 2016, where he lost in the 1st round. The same year, Fritz won the ATP Star of Tomorrow for being the youngest player in the top 100, having just turned 19.
Fritz tasted his first win at any major at the 2017 US Open. In 2018, he entered to top 50 of the rankings for the first time. Fritz ended 2021 ranked 23 due to his successful on-court performances.
The 2022 season was the best for the American player. He ascended to the top 10 of the rankings for the first time. As far as the playing style is concerned, Fritz is a baseline player with a dominant serve that can reach 149 mph. Fritz is in a relationship with model and influencer Morgan Riddle.
