With the Super Bowl fever gripping all over the sports world, WTA icons were asked about their preferred choice for the singer they would like to see performing before their match. Naomi Osaka, Coco Gauff, Ons Jabeur, Paula Badosa, Jelena Ostapenko, and others about their choice. While there were different names, Beyonce and Taylor Swift were their outright picks.
Osaka and Gauff are a known Beyonce fan and hence they picked the American popstar. Meanwhile, Desirae Krawczyk and Giuliana Olmos picked Taylor Swift. Other choices included Eminem, Imagine Dragons, and Lord Uzi.
It is worth mentioning that while Naomi Osaka’s first pick was Beyonce, the Japanese ace said that she might get distracted seeing Beyonce perform and thus, would prefer having Rihanna perform before her match.
Jelena Ostapenko and Ons Jabeur made interesting choices as they picked Imagine Dragons and Eminem respectively. Paula Badosa, meanwhile, showing her fondness for Latin music picked Bad Bunny as her preferred performer.
Naomi Osaka eyes first title after comeback
While Naomi Osaka shared her preference for the artist she would want to see performing before her match, the four-time Grand Slam champion might be worried about her performance at the moment. The Japanese ace has not been able to hit the ground running ever since her return to the tour.
Osaka bowed out of the Brisbane International, her comeback tournament, after a defeat in the second round. At the 2024 Australian Open, Osaka had a first-round exit as she lost to Caroline Garcia. At the Abu Dhabi Open where she received a wildcard entry, Osaka lost to Danielle Collins in the first round.
But despite all these failures, the former World No.1 is determined to make a comeback at the Qatar Open. Osaka says that the defeat in Abu Dhabi has instilled confidence instead of self-doubt. The Japanese ace says that it is going to be only upward from here.
It definitely is hard for me to not be tough on myself, but after Abu Dhabi I actually have more confidence in myself, which is a little strange. I feel like since I have seen the worst that can happen, everything else is a plus. In Australia, I knew that I said I was only going to play in Dubai, so I feel like I have to take these tournaments as extra credit.Naomi Osaka said. (H/T: Sportstar)
Osaka will once again meet Caroline Garcia in her first-round match at the WTA 1000 event. It is to be seen how she fares after two back-to-back first-round exits.
