The Tennis in Land 2023 has entered its second round, the Round of 16. The WTA 250 tournament provides the perfect platform for the women’s players to prepare for the year’s last Grand Slam the 2023 US Open. While none of the top-ranked players are taking part in the tournament, some exciting talents like Mirra Andreeva and Sloane Stephens are taking part in the tournament. 

The two players have advanced to the second round. While the 16-year-old Russian defeated Tamara Korpatsch in the first round, Stephens defeated Lauren Davis in the Round of 32. Now, the two players will face off on Thursday (24 August).

Both Sloane Stephens and Mirra Andreeva have had mediocre outings in 2023. While the American has failed to make it count at bigger tournaments, the 16-year-old has not held on to crucial moments resulting in agony for the Russian. The 16-year-old, however, has surely played better than her American opponent. 

Mirra Andreeva impressed everyone with her fine performance at The Championships. After starting as a Qualifier, Andreeva survived till the pre-quarterfinals. Although she lost to Madison Keys, Stephens’ opponent at the 2017 US Open final when the American lifted her maiden title at the Flushing Meadows, Andreeva left an impact. 

The 16-year-old Russian also made it to the third round at the 2023 French Open. Meanwhile, Sloane Stephens also made it to the Round of 16. However, she did not have that long a run at the Wimbledon 2023. Stephens crashed out after losing in the second round.
