“She’s allowed to lose one after a historic season” Tennis Twitter celebrates Iga Swiatek’s successful season after her semifinal loss at the WTA Finals
Iga Swiatek crashes out of the WTA Finals 2022
World No. 1 Iga Swiatek‘s remarkable 2022 season came to an unfortunate end a match earlier than she would have prepared herself for. The World No. 1 concluded the year with a whooping 11,085 ranking points, the most since Serena Williams scored 13,615 way back in 2013. For those uninitiated, her WTA Finals journey has come to an end, at least for this year, as Aryna Sabalenka defeated her 6-2, 2-6, 6-1 to advance to the final of the year-ending-tournament on Sunday.
This must have come as a surprise for many, as the Polish sensation looked almost unbeatable throughout the competition. The loss also ended her 15-match winning streak against opponents who are in Top-10 of the ranking table.
As expected, her loss elicited a plethora of reactions online, with fans and followers chiming in with their positive remarks about her amazing journey this season. Judging by the tweets that have been made following the epic two hours seven minutes long clash, it seems like although fans wanted Iga to win the year-ending championship; they were majorly content and happy with what she was able to accomplish in 2022.
Iga Swiatek looked shaky from the start. She lost the first set but made a comeback in the second set to win it. However, the US Open and French Open champions lost five games in a row in the third and the final set to lose the match. She made many mistakes during the game and acknowledged them in the post-match interview. The Polish star still can’t believe how incredible her 2022 season had been so far and how the season unfolded for her professional career.
“In the third, I just started making mistakes from shots that I wouldn’t make mistakes usually,” the World No.1 said.
“At the beginning of the first set, I just wanted to be kind of focused. Maybe I didn’t realize soon enough that I should be more pepped up,” she further added.
Meanwhile, in another semi-final, Caroline Garcia defeated Maria Sakkari in straight sets to storm into the final round of the WTA Finals tournament. Caroline Garcia of France and Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus will play against each other in the final to win the prestigious WTA Finals trophy on Sunday.
Fans extended their unconditioned support and love toward Iga Swiatek for her incredible 2022 run
Despite losing her semi-final round, the World No. 1 still managed to win hearts with her incredible 2022 run. While the majority of Twitter users extended their support to the polish player, others hoped for her to continue her unbeatable dominance next year as well.

There is no denying the fact that after this glorious victory against the World No. 1. Aryna will be extra motivated and determined to win against World No.6 Caroline Garcia to lay her hands on the first WTA singles title this year.
