Former world No. 1 Roger Federer has been breaking the internet since a few days back announced his retirement from professional tennis. James Blake, a former tennis professional following this distraught news recently honored his prestigious career memories by taking fans back in time and applauding Roger for showing gratitude towards the American.
The global tennis community and fans ever since the ‘Swiss Maestro’s retirement news have been going over social media posting his career’s finest moments in the wake of knowing they’ll never get to witness one of the greatest tennis players perform on tour. In a recent tweet by Blake, he upheld the level of tennis Federer has embarked himself on and other players by saying “thank you for a new standard.”

James Blake, who was known for his explosive technique and flat forehand, in a recent tweet dedicated to his long-time tennis comrade Roger Federer posted a video from 2004 when he suffered from a broken neck injury caught during training.
He overviewed the story saying “I think everyone’s realized how great a tennis player he is, but I want to tell a quick story. About a couple of years ago, I was injured in Rome. It’s at a time when everyone else is concentrating on their tennis and playing as well as they can and I got one note in that hospital room, from the number 1 player in the world, Roger Federer, wishing me the best. Just a note on how classy he is too.”
Federer announced his retirement two days back-breaking the hearts of tennis enthusiasts all over the globe. In his parting message from professional tennis, he quoted “I was given a special talent to play tennis and I did it at a level that I never imagined for much longer than I ever thought possible.” The Swiss’ final act of on-tour tennis will be speculated at the upcoming Laver Cup which blows whistle on September 23rd and will be joined by his old compatriot and rival Rafael Nadal in the two-day showdown.
