“The bias and discrimination is disgusting,” Rafael Nadal faces wrath on social media as he escapes penalty for an unusually long timeout

Rafael Nadal is no stranger to taking unusually long breaks during his encounters. While the Spaniard pays no heed to the questions of him receiving special treatment from the officials, yet the latest incident just proves otherwise.
During his fourth round clash with home favorite Frances Tiafoe, Rafael Nadal stirred up a huge controversy. The 22-time major champion took an eight-minute timeout after the end of the first set, which has potentially exceeded all limits.
Moreover, what has enraged some fans on social media is the fact that the break came just moments after Frances Tiafoe bagged the first set in front of his home crowd. According to the rules, three minutes is the maximum time alloted for a timeout. Hence, Rafael Nadal’s outrageous break certainly did call for a penalty.

Rafael Nadal’s latest antics did gain a lot of traction on social media, as fans were left unhappy with the partially dished out to the Spaniard.
Fans have gone as far as calling Rafael Nadal a cheater for breaking the entire flow of the match. This is not the first time this year that the Spaniard has been accused of taking unnecessarily long breaks. Back in January, the veteran was called out by his opponents for his un-sportsmanship like conduct at the Australian Open 2022.
