Novak Djokovic, the 35-year-old Serbian tennis professional is widely regarded as one of the greatest tennis players of all time. With 21 grand slam titles to his name, Djokovic has etched his name among the sport’s all-time greats. The Serb recently competed in the Laver Cup after missing out on the US Open and is now playing in Tel Aviv.
Yesterday, Djokovic went up against Canada’s Vasek Pospisil in the tournament’s quarter-finals. The Serb got into an embarrassing situation in the second set as the score read 5-3. Djokovic thought it was a mid-game interval and it was time for a changeover, the chair umpire reminded Djokovic that it was not time for a changeover.
Djokovic had an embarrassing smile on his face as he walked over to the same side of the court to serve again. The crowd were ver vocal after witnessing the moment as well.
Novak Djokovic progresses to the semi-finals of the Tel Aviv Open
Novak Djokovic faced Pablo Andujar from Spain in the first round at Tel Aviv. The Serb captured a comfortable win in straight sets over Andujar. He then went up against Canada’s Vasek Pospisil in the quarter-finals of the tournament. Djokovic once again was quick to dispose of the Canadian as he managed yet another victory in straight sets.
Talking about his victory, Djokovic said, “It was a great, positive win… I think the level of tennis was really high. Especially towards the end of the first set and the second set. Credit to him for fighting. Great to see him back.”
Djokovic will now be going up against Russia’s Roman Safiullin in the semi-final stages of the tournament. The Serb will be looking to make his way into the penultimate match of the event and add yet another title to his trophy cabinet.
