“The more I play, the more comfortable I feel,” Novak Djokovic reveals the struggles of mental block as he aims to get back in form

Novak Djokovic
Who has not heard of Novak Djokovic? The World No. 1 has 20 Grand Slams to his name and is one of the best tennis players the world has ever seen. But 2022 has definitely not been the year for the Serbian, due to a variety of reasons.
For starters, the Serbian could not participate in the Australian Open, Miami Open, and the Indian Wells due to not being vaccinated. He participated in only two tournaments at the time, the Dubai Open Championship and the Monte Carlo Masters both of which he failed to make a mark. The Serbian Open proved to be a turning point for the world no. 1, who came runners up in the tournament against Russian player Andrey Rublev. And now, he’s gearing up for the Madrid Open.
Novak Djokovic talks about his mental and emotional health

The Madrid Open is a tournament which the Serbian has won thrice. But the world no. 1 is still struggling to get back on form and reveals that it is mostly due to mental and emotional pressure.
“The challenge is definitely more on the mental and emotional side. Of course, I have never experienced anything similar to what I experienced early this season and I did not know how that’s going to affect me,” Said Djokovic to Eurosport.
Fans would be delighted to hear that Novak Djokovic is now able to find his form slowly but surely, as he feels he was much better off than the previous 2-3 months.
“It obviously still – you know, I still have to deal with it to some extent. It’s not as powerful as it was in the first two, or three months of the year. I feel like the more I play, the more I’m in this environment, the more comfortable I feel.” Said the Serbian to Eurosport.
Novak Djokovic will next face Gael Monfils in the second round as he aims for the fourth title in this tournament the last one being in 2019. Winning the title will also give him the confidence to face the Roland Garros which is a month away and show the performance that a defending champion would showcase.
