Medvedev couldn’t play at the 2022 Wimbledon Championship due to the ban on the Russian and Belarus players following the Russia-Ukraine war. Medvedev became the world number one after Novak Djokovic failed to defend his titles at the beginning of the year and his absence from tournaments due to his vaccination status.

Paris Masters shared an image on its official account on social media declaring its announcement with pictures of players like Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Carlos Alcaraz, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Matteo Berrettini, Nick Kyrgios, and others but the thing that caught everybody’s attention was the absence of Daniil Medvedev’s image from the official poster. Paris Masters is scheduled to take place from 29 October – 6 November.

Medvedev was quite consistent with his performances on the Tour but couldn’t win any tournaments after reaching the finals. He managed to win the title at Los Cabos Open but still followed an early exit at the tournaments that led up to the US Open. Following such disappointments throughout the year, he could manage to hold his place in the top spot for only 16 weeks as he lost his position after his exit at the Flushing Meadows.

Fans extended support for the Russian player and slammed the Paris Masters authorities for discriminating against Medvedev because of his nationality rather choose to keep the Serbian who has been facing recuperations due to his unvaccinated stance. Some even acknowledged the fact that Medvedev might not be playing at the Paris Masters but he shouldn’t be kept off for his credibility while even some other players haven’t even played the tournament.
