Emma Raducanu made her debut on clay at the recently concluded Billie Jean King Cup qualifiers as he led Great Britain against the Czech Republic in Prague. The youngster made a statement starting with a fantastic win over Tereza Martincova. However, she failed to replicate that in her second game against former French Open finalist Marketa Vondrousova. Overall Great Britain fell short against the Czechs as they won the decider doubles match and progressed to the finals.

Hence the former US Open will now have to shift her focus to the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart. Here Raducanu will be under the scanner again as she starts her campaign against Australia’s Storm Sanders. Overall it has been a very tough year for the brit as she could only reach the second round at the Australian Open and even failed to manoeuvre the initials rounds at both the Indian Wells and Miami Open.

There has been massive criticism in the media regarding her focus and a lot of other things. Hence Raducanu showing a little bit of fight in Stuttgart against some of the best players would do a whole lot of good for Britain’s No.1 as she prepares for the upcoming Roland Garros.
