9/11 tribute
The world on September 11, 2001, was dismayed following the coordinated terrorist attacks on the United States of America. The USTF Chairman’s complete ignorance of the event’s 21st tribute on the other hand has raged the global tennis community and fans who now are asking for his replacement.
The unfortunate attacks 21 years ago were led by the Islamic terrorist network al-Qaeda and the notorious terrorist Osama Bin Laden. The attacks were carried out on multiple prime locations which included the Twin Towers (World Trade Center), The Pentagon, and New York.
“No second chances McNulty,” Tennis Twitter denounces Chairman of the USTF
Michael J. McNulty III resides as the current Chairman of the US Tennis Federation(USTF) and has been on the platoon of receiving constant backlash for his regard towards the 21st tribute for the 9/11 attacks and has sent both the tennis community and fans in a frenzy.
In a tweet uploaded by Webby award-winning media revolutionary Jonathan Greenberg, he held the Chairman and the President of the USTF in disgrace saying “Phenomenal US Open finals. Both Casper Ruud of Norway and Carlos Alcaraz from Spain paid tribute to the victims and the families of 9/11. Class acts! Yet the Chairman and President of the US Tennis Federation didn’t say a word! Time for a new head of US Tennis. Pathetic!!!!”
Here are some of the reactions by the tennis community on the same:
The series of airline hijacking and suicide attacks committed by numerous militants upon the dreadful day of 9/11 in the US cost nearly 2900 lives. The coordinated terrorist attacks to date remain the deadliest in the history of attacks on US soil. In an attempt to save lives, nearly 400 officers and rescuers from the police and fire departments were also killed.
The Flushing championship on the day of finals paid its tribute to the victims and families of those affected by the attacks and after three weeks of epic performances in New York, the US Open was finally concluded yesterday and the champion for the season was crowned the Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, who defeated Casper in a four-setter match and made the history of being named the youngest person to ever claim the ATP world No. 1 throne.
