Rafael Nadal’s fans have been eagerly waiting for his return to the ATP Tour, especially to defend his title at the French Open, which he has won a record 14 times. However, the Spanish tennis superstar has been out of action for over three months due to an injury he suffered during the Australian Open. Although it was initially believed that Nadal would only be out for up to eight weeks, his recovery has been complicated by setbacks, and he has already missed the start of the clay court season.
The only tournament that seems viable for Nadal to participate in before the French Open is the Italian Open in early May. But given the doubts surrounding his fitness, it remains unclear whether he will compete in the tournament or not. Nadal’s former coach and uncle, Toni Nadal, has given an update on his condition, assuring fans that Nadal won’t rush his comeback.
In an interview with RMC’s Bartoli Time, Toni Nadal said that he spoke to his nephew on Saturday and that Nadal will only return if he is in good condition and 100% fit. He emphasized that Nadal played the Australian Open without being in top form and that he wants to arrive at Roland Garros with confidence and in good physical condition.
Toni Nadal added that his nephew still has the drive to try to win another title at Roland Garros, but for now, they will have to wait and see. He said, “He would like to arrive at Roland Garros with confidence and a good physical condition. For now, we have to wait. But he still has the mind to try to win another time.”

Rafael Nadal’s 15th French Open title could Secure his place in tennis history
Rafael Nadal, one of the greatest tennis players of all time, has won the French Open a record-breaking 14 times, and he’s already won 22 Grand Slam titles in total. However, if he were to win his 15th French Open title this year, he would make history by winning the most titles at a single Grand Slam event and increase his overall Grand Slam titles to 23, surpassing Novak Djokovic’s record of 22 Grand Slam titles.
Nadal‘s domination at the French Open has been remarkable, winning 13 titles in the last 16 years, including a four-year streak from 2005 to 2008 and a three-year streak from 2017 to 2019. He is widely considered the “King of Clay” due to his exceptional play on the surface.
But winning his 15th French Open title and breaking his own record won’t be an easy task. He will have to compete against top players such as Stefanos Tsitsipas and Carlos Alcaraz, both of whom have shown remarkable talent and potential in recent years. Moreover, Nadal’s injury status remains a concern, and he has not played any tournaments since the Australian Open due to his recovery from an injury.
