Former tennis player and pundit Tracy Austin looked back on what separated Venus Williams from the rest of the field and how she has impacted Wimbledon with her incredible gameplay. Furthermore, the former tennis professional opened up about how she was the first player ever who could hit offensively from a defensive position.
Continuing her train of thought, she further added, “But she also changed the game. The first player who could hit offensively from a defensive position. If she gets a short ball watch out. Venus was coming to the net instantly and would take charge of the rally…We wait for more chapters in the life of this remarkable champion.”
For the uninitiated, seven-time Grand Slam title winner Venus Williams is certainly a legend of the game and, moreover, has been going strong for nearly two decades now. She participated in this year’s Wimbledon Championships but unfortunately lost in the very first round to Elina Svitolina.
However, nothing takes away the dominance she has had in this competition, bagging it on five occasions. She has also won the Wimbledon doubles titles six times alongside her sister Serena Williams
