Carlos Alcaraz has had a superb 2023 season. The Spaniard has constantly performed well on the big stage in the last couple of years. Winning the 2022 US Open was a major breakthrough in his career. However, it was this season when the 20-year-old came to his own.

Winning the Wimbledon final against Novak Djokovic besides performing well in the Tour Finals as well as the French Open has to be the highlights of the season for Alcaraz. The young Spaniard was the only one who defeated Nole in this season’s Grand Slam events.

That performance against a player like Djokovic in a major Grand Slam tournament final must be scripted in the history books of tennis. The former American tennis player Tracy Austin has stated in an interview that years from now on when fans look back at Alcaraz’s run to the Wimbledon title, it might seem straightforward that a player so skilled will have so swiftly earned a second singles Major.

Carlos Alcaraz’s 2023 season- good enough for a 20-year-old?

Alcaraz has made a promising start to his career. The Spaniard has shown amazing resilience for a 20-year-old, executing a great skillset during crunch situations. The way he played throughout the grass court season of the 2023 season without much experience is no easy task. Alcaraz went on to beat Matteo Berrettini, Holger Rune, Daniil Medvedev, and ultimately Djokovic in the Wimbledon.

Besides the Wimbledon, Alcaraz also reached the semi-finals of the French Open where he was defeated by Novak Djokovic, who went on to become the champion later. The World No.2 also reached the semis of the ATP where he was again defeated by Nole. The rivalry between the two is not coming to a halt in a short time, it seems.

There is absolutely no doubt that Alcaraz will become one of the superstars of the game in the coming years. With Roger Federer retiring and Rafael Nadal and Djokovic also in the twilight of his career, the torch will now be moved forward by players like him, Jannik Sinner, etc.

However, there’s a long time to go and a long road to travel for him. His fans would hope that he plays with the same momentum and win more Grand Slam titles in the coming years.
