The 2024 Australian Open was extremely exciting on the ATP side of things. Jannik Sinner won the title this time, and this is the first time since 2014 that a player outside of the Big 3 (Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, and Roger Federer) has won this singles Major. The Italian had to go through a lot of hurdles to achieve this unreal accomplishment.

Sinner defeated Djokovic in the semi-final in four sets and Daniil Medvedev in the final, despite losing the first two sets. This was the first time Djokovic had been defeated in an Australian Open semi-final. Before this, he had a record of 20-0 in the Australian Open semi-finals, which further shows how massive Sinner’s achievement was.

Players like Christopher Eubanks, Frances Tiafoe, Gael Monfils, Lorenzo Musetti, Holger Rune and Arthur Fils were eliminated by the second round itself. Ben Shelton, Karen Khachanov, Tomas Martin Etcheverry, Sebastian Korda and Grigor Dimitrov could not make it past the third round, while Alex de Minaur and Stefanos Tsitsipas lost their fourth-round matches.

Things got extremely exciting from the quarterfinals onwards and Andrey Rublev, Alexander Zverev, Jannik Sinner, Novak Djokovic, Taylor Fritz, Hubert Hurkacz and Daniil Medvedev were the last eight players.

The first semi-final was played between Djokovic and Sinner, while the second semi-final was played between Medvedev and Zverev. Both matches had extremely unexpected results, as mentioned earlier.
