Paula Badosa vs. Venus Williams: Match Preview
Former World No. 1 will clash with a former World No. 2 at the Flushing Meadows on Monday for the first round at the US Open. Williams has competed in a few tournaments this year, but her performance has not been exceptional as such.
Though she has participated in a few Tournaments, she hasn’t won any Titles. While she lost the first round at the Canadian Open, she progressed to the second round at Cincinnati where she lost to China’s Qinwen Zheng. Venus also suffered an injury this year, forcing her to withdraw from one of the Tournaments.
Paula Badosa had last participated in the Italian Open where she managed to reach the Quarter-finals, but lost to World No. 20, Jelena Ostapenko over three sets. The 25-year-old hasn’t played professional tennis since. The Spaniard had faced an injury a few months before and probably wasn’t well prepared for the US Open.
The two have never clashed on-court before. The first-round match between the two will mark their very first head-to-head.
