Serbian legend Novak Djokovic once again lands in another controversy over a mystery drink being provided to him in the middle of his semifinal match at the Paris Masters. This incident was captured by a spectator in the audience when Djokovic’s team made a drink for him while trying to hide cameras. Soon, the 21-time Grand Slam champion faced a lot of criticism and doping allegations.
The World No 8 has been under scrutiny since the beginning of the year over his stance on his vaccination status. Despite being a player of great stature, he wasn’t given any special exemption, nor his demands were fulfilled. He was mocked for not getting vaccinated and faced a major setback, as he had to skip major tournaments. While there is no glimmer of hope, the Serb lands into another debate that hints it isn’t going to be always smooth flowing for him.
Though an official statement from the former World No 1 is awaited, Australian player John Millman extended his support while claiming the accusations as totally illogical and ridiculous. He further stated the fact that if they wished to do something, then they could have done in the locker rooms. He further stated that it was quite disturbing to see to what extent people are trying to enter players’ lives.
Millman shared the trade secret about supplement intake as he defended Novak Djokovic. Taking to his official Twitter handle, he noted, “Too much attention on a team member mixing sports drinks. A proper ridiculous notion that something is up, stadium full, cameras everywhere, drinks mixed in players box. I mean, use a little logic here, maybe just maybe they don’t want to give the edge to anyone. To add to that, inside a locker room you see a players team always making drinks, in unmarked bottles and put in the fridge. Training programs, supplement intake, etc is trade secret.”
Novak Djokovic’s wife Jelena also extended her support to the Serb over the mystery drink controversy
The 9-time Australian Open champion’s wife Jelena Djokovic took to social media to extend her complete support to the 21-time Grand Slam champion over the mystery drink controversy at Bercy. She went ahead to defend her husband against any sort of allegations while accusing the public of the lack of privacy.
She clarified that there wasn’t anything suspicious about Novak Djokovic‘s drink. She pointed out the harsh reality as players are criticized with utmost interest in their lives.
