America’s veteran tennis ace Venus Williams poked fun at her fans as the 43-year-old shared a picture with reigning Wimbledon champion Carlos Alcaraz and called the Spaniard her doubles partner. As the tennis stars attended one of the games at Major League Pickleball (MLP) on Friday, Alcaraz and Williams were captured having an intense conversation.

Venus Williams later took to Instagram to share the picture and made it more fun by adding an interesting caption. Williams claimed that the two players were strategizing and the veteran American called Alcaraz her doubles partner. “Strategizing with my new dubs partner @carlitosalcarazz,” wrote Williams alongside the picture.

While many assumed it was a random picture, as a matter of fact, it was not. Alcaraz indeed was Williams’ new doubles partner, not in tennis but in pickleball. As the likes of Holger Rune, Tommy Paul, Ons Jabeur, and Andrey Rublev attended the event, Williams and Alcaraz joined hands to play against Jabeur and Paul. In fact, the duo defeated their opponent.

Talking about Venus Willams’ participation in the 2023 US Open, the 43-year-old has received a wildcard entry into the main draw after she missed out on the WTA 250 event in Cleveland. US Open confirmed the seven-time Grand Slam champion’s participation by sharing a video of Williams entering the arena.

The 43-year-old is set to make her 24th appearance at the Flushing Meadows despite issues with her knee. Williams will open her campaign at the Flushing Meadows against Spain’s Paula Badosa. Although Williams has been facing issues with her knee, the seasoned campaigner is expected to challenge Badosa in her home slam.

Venus Williams has two US Open titles to her name which she won in 2000 and 2001. However, she has not been able to do much after that. The best Williams has managed in the recent past is a semifinal finish at the 2017 US Open. Now, with her being in the twilight of her career, Venus Williams would want to make this edition memorable.

In case you missed!
