Grigor Dimitrov’s terrific run at the Rotterdam Open came to a conclusion, after his straight sets loss against Daniil Medvedev in the semifinals. He defeated the fifth seed, Hubert Hurkacz in the second round, followed by a victory over Alex de Minaur in the quarterfinals.

The 31-year-old’s run was finally halted by Daniil Medvedev, who went on to claim the title on Sunday. The sixth seed defeated Jannik Sinner in the finals, after coming back from a set down. The US Open 2021 champion claimed his first title of the season, which could set the tone for the rest of the season.

For Grigor Dimitrov, the start to the season has certainly been promising. He was defeated by the eventual champion, Novak Djokovic in the third round of the 2023 Australian Open. However, there was not much the Bulgarian could do as the current world number one operated at an altogether different level in Melbourne.
