In an interview before her first match, Emma appeared for an interview with SuperTennis TV where the interviewer asked if Emma knew some Italian words, to which Emma said, “Err… I did… like, que cazzo?” which translates to, ‘What the f***’ in English.

“Is that a bad word?” she asked, before putting her hand to her face in shock. “A little bit,” replied the interviewer who had also started laughing at Raducanu’s innocent mistake and said, “My friend taught me that word. Cut that one. What does it mean?” to which the interviewer said, “I’ll tell you later… at the end of the interview.”

A shocked Emma then asked, “Really? Have I just sworn on camera. Oh my god, erm… Bongiorno! I can’t believe I just fully swore on camera!” continuing with her hysterical laughter to which the interviewer said, “Bongiorno is better! But the other one can be useful.”

With Emma’s reaction showing how shocking it was for her to have sworn on live TV completely unaware, netizens were considerate of the mistake and suggested some ‘good’ Italian words while others even brought out some of their personal stories like these where they were unaware of the actual meaning of the word.

Emma will be taking on former US Open champion Bianca Andreescu in the first round of the tournament with both players coming into the match from a 3rd round defeat at the 2022 Madrid Open. This will be the first-ever meeting between the two players.
