Daniil Medvedev extends his winning streak this season to 17 matches by winning his fourth round match against Alexander Zverev at the Indian Wells Open. The Russian and the German battled it out in a dramatic encounter which had all the ingredients to make it worthy of a fixture in a Masters tournament.

However, in the match, his crazy winner against the 25-year old is being talked about more. Alexander Zverev served and made Daniil Medvedev uncomfortable who was trying to somehow keep the ball in the play. A return from the German made it more troublesome for the Russian. But then he pulled a lob shot that stunned the 25-year old and enthralled the audience.

A moment of genius analysed by the man himself,” the caption read.

Then, Yeah this shot was crazy. In a way pure luck, I saw that I had the opportunity to smash it so I went full power and I’m probably going to miss 8, 9 out of 10 but this was in so it was good!” Daniil Medvedev said.

The current World No.6 began his journey this season by participating in the Adelaide International 1 tournament. He was looking great until he succumbed to Novak Djokovic in the semi-final. He was completely blown away by the Serbian. The Russian then subsequently participated in the Australian Open, however, here too he could not win the title and was knocked out in the third round by Sebastian Korda.

But since then, Daniil Medvedev has been able to win every tournament he has participated in. He started his winning streak by winning the ATP Rotterdam Open and even defeated big names on the tour such as Felix Auger-Aliassime and Grigor Dmitrov in the previous rounds before winning the final against Jannik Sinner. He then won the Qatar Open by beating Andy Murray in the final.

His third ATP tournament title win this season came in Dubai. He also defeated Borna Coric in the quarter-finals and took revenge for his loss in Adelaide against Novak Djokovic in the semi-final before defeating Andrey Rublev in the final to clinch the Dubai Tennis Championships 2023 men’s singles title. He continued his great form in the Indian Wells Open too as he defeated Brandon Nakashima, Ilya Ivashka and Alexander Zverev in the previous rounds of this tournament.
